What do you do?
I am an author, and a TV Healthy Living Expert. I love to inspire women to lead healthier lives. I am also a certified Holistic Nutritionist.
What’s been your journey to get here?
Oh wow – long journey. I have been interested in a holistic way of life for decades. I studied homeopathy and aromatherapy way before it was mainstream, and I certified as a yoga teacher – all the above while maintaining a career as a theatre actress in the UK. After a horrendous accident 16 years ago where my face got very badly burned, I realized that I wanted to devote my life to teaching women about living a clean, safe and sustainable life. But I wanted to make it fun, accessible and sexy, so I wrote my first book, Gorgeously Green, which wound up on Oprah. When you’re on the right path, the planets always align!
What do you wish you knew then that you know now?
I wish I had known about the dangers of certain toxins in our food supply and environment.
What are your “mom hacks”- what are your tips to getting it all done?
Stop every hour (set a timer) and either go for a walk, a run, or do some breathing exercises and yoga. This means that you don’t have to carve an entire 2 hours out of your day for fitness and spirit – you do it piecemeal. Plus it keeps you calm and centered.
What makes your life easier?
My husband – he is the most supportive partner I could ever have hoped for.
We know balance is such a silly word- but how do you hold it all together when lots of things come at you at once?
I breathe – seriously, I practice yoga breathing exercises all the time. They help me to keep my ducks in row.
What keeps you up at night?
Nothing! I am so exhausted when I hit the sack that an Earthquake wouldn’t wake me up
What are the 2 things we all should be doing – if we only have the time for 2?
Meditate and Breathe
What would you tell someone who is thinking about writing and starting a business?
Start it! You will make mistakes along the way, but just get it started, and take it one step at a time.
